INSTRUCTOR  (Lunenburg County Adult Learning Opportunities Program)
Part-time: 20 hours per week from September 2023 – June 2024
Position Scope
Under the direction of Employment Solutions Society, working closely with community partners, and applying good practice principles, the instructor is responsible for the effective delivery of the Adult Learning Program curricula, and for the evaluation and documentation of progress of learners in the Level I, II or Level III Adult Learning Program.
Follow good practice principles of adult education, including:
  • provide quality instruction experiences for learners that are based on the interests of the learners, develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and increases self-esteem
  • deliver programs which respect each learner’s unique identity
  • establish individual learning plans at the beginning of the program
  • Conduct appropriate formative and summative assessments to ensure learners are appropriately placed in programming and to monitor progress towards meeting their identified goals.
  • ensure goals and learning plans relate to the participants’ educational, career and/or personal goals
  • prepare learning plans for each learner, use his/her life experiences as material for learning, and accommodate different learning styles
  • work collaboratively with participants to meet learning goals
  • Solid understanding of assessment, processes, tools and resources
  • The instructor provides assessment for GED prep classes and follow up with attendees on progress, is prepared to assist high needs students and actively researches assistive technology, assists with client service delivery and will facilitate workshops and/or deliver full programs.
  • The instructor will document client information in LaMPSS
 Qualifications
 University degree in Education with at least two years' relevant experience working with adults in an educational setting
  • Completion of the Nova Scotia Tutor and Instructor Training and Certification Program an asset
  • Proven coordination, organizational, computer and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Demonstration of strong interpersonal and team-work skills
  • Effectively use information and communications technology, conduct research
  • Excellent understanding of adult and inclusive education principles
  • Adhere to inclusionary practice, ethical decision making and respect for diversity
  • Commit to professional development and career self-management
  • Knowledge to apply equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility approaches in instructional design
  • Familiar with various assistive technologies an asset
  • Valid NS Drivers license and access to reliable transportation
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Salary Range: $20,904 - $24,460 based on 39 weeks

Admin Support: (Lunenburg County Adult Learning Opportunities Program)
Part-time: 37.5 hours per week from September 2023 – June 2024
Position Scope
Under the direction of Employment Solutions Society, working closely with community partners, and applying good practice principles, the Admin Support staff member ensures the efficient operation of the office, and support the work of other Adult Learning staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Answer general phone inquiries
  • Greet learners/suppliers/visitors to the organization in a professional and friendly manner
  • Engage first time visitors and assess visitors service needs and refer to the appropriate program
  • Prepare information packages, brochures etc
  • Replenish information packages and develop new forms as requested by staff and management.
  • Promote programs to community agencies and attend events as required
  • Receive and coordinate referrals from learners and organizations
  • Manage class participation and registration.
  • Provide data entry for staff and management into LaMPSS service registration system
  • Log statistics
  • Ensure all rooms are in good order for classes prior to the class and that all things are cleared away and room back in order after classes.
  • Code and file material according to the established procedures and maintain confidentiality of files.
  • Assist with the coordination, orientation and scheduling of volunteer tutors
  • Assist the Executive Director with the preparation and submission of proposals and reports
  • Social Media  - advertise programs; facebook page content
  • Trouble shoot computer hardware and software issues and perform weekly computer updates/maintenance for computers.
  • Flexibility to work evenings until 8pm when required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Admin Support must have:
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs
  • Proficiency in the use of office equipment
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Exercise privacy and confidentiality
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Valid NS Drivers license and access to reliable transportation
Admin Support must be able to:
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members
  • Access and effectively use information and communications technology; conduct research
  • Adhere to inclusionary practice, ethical decision making and respect for diversity
  • Commit to professional development and career self-management

  • A diploma in business administration or information technology
  • Experience in related field an asset
Salary Range: $32,672.00 - $35,334.00 based on 39 weeks
