Job Seeker Services

For job seekers we provide self and assisted employment services, at no cost, who reside in Lunenburg and Queens County, and legally entitled to work in Canada.
​
​At our Bridgewater Centre and Outreach Offices we deliver services in-person, virtually and by phone.

Self-Serve

Self-services are available to all at our Bridgewater Centre, no registration required and no cost involved.
  • Orientation – show you around our centre and get you familiar with all areas of interest.
  • Determine service needs – our staff will ask you questions to be able to suggest next steps and determine your needs.
  • Attend group sessions – we have a lineup of webinars and group sessions you can attend (in-person & virtual).
  • Referrals to other community agencies – if another community partner can assist you to overcome a barrier and it is not employment or career related.
  • Access Computers – our Bridgewater Centre's online computers are available from 8:30 – 4:30, Monday through Friday. For a list of helpful job site links click here.
  • Resume & cover letter building tools – we have programs installed on public computers that assist you in creating resumes & cover letters.  You can visit Nova Scotia Works Digital, an online portal to search for work and use online resume & cover letter building tools.​ ​If you are struggling to build your resumes or cover letters, we have options, click here to download what is available.
  • View/borrow resource materials & books – books and materials are available to borrow or view in our Bridgewater Centre.
  • ​Printing, copying & faxing for job search – a printer is available for your job search and career exploration related documents, at no cost.

  • Phone – access a phone within our centre. ​​
  • Supplies – use paper, envelopes, stapler, pens & pencils, etc.
  • Wi-fi – we have public wi-fi access.
  • Register & work with us – our staff can book an appointment with one of our Case Managers who will assist in reaching your career or job-related goal(s). ​
  • Adult learning programs & services – be referred to work with the Lunenburg County Adult Learning Program to increase essential skills such as reading, writing, math and more, they are located one door down from our Bridgewater Centre. Need more information click here.

​Assisted Services 

Accessing assisted services requires a registration and there is no cost to:
  • Work one to one – set up a scheduled meeting with our Case Managers in-person, virtually or by phone and start building a plan.​
  • Determine needs to build a plan – Case Managers assess  needs during scheduled meetings to help identify steps and strategies needed to reach the goals of a plan.
  • Explore options – Case Managers help job seekers identify options, they provide support with career decision making activities and job search strategies.
  • Identify barriers & roadblocks – Case Managers help job seekers build the skills and confidence needed to successfully pursue their employment goals. 
  • Access training and skills – Case Managers discuss eligibility to participate in pre-employment training, skills certifications, specialzed and funding programs, if necessary to gain employment. To learn more about funded programs click here.
  • Resume & cover letter critique & tips – it is important to be active in a job search with a resume & cover letter that portrays each job seeker in the best possible light. Reviewing a resume & cover letter is part of building your plan. For resume & cover letter building options click here.
  • Attend webinars, group sessions & special programs – staff can suggest attending virtual or in-person group sessions to enhance employability.  
  • ​​Employment Maintenance & Job Coaching – Our Employment Maintenance Worker provides tailored support to job seekers who face challenges related to market perceptions. By developing, coordinating, and expanding service options to help individuals progress toward their goals. Our EMW focuses on empowering job seekers to adapt and strengthen their strategies for lasting success in both employment and life offering:​​

​​Job Development - our Job Developer supports job seekers who face challenges in promoting themselves to employers, helping them identify and pursue their career and personal development goals by collaborating with local businesses to understand their labor market needs and create employment opportunities by aligning those needs with the skills of job seekers.
