We provide self and assisted employment services, at no cost, for all individuals who reside in Lunenburg
and Queens Counties who are legally entitled to work in Canada.

Self-Services (No cost)

Self-services available to anyone who visits one of our centres and you do not have to be a registered client to access them.
  • Orientation to our centre(s) – we will show you around our centre and you will get familiar with all areas you can access.
  • Determine service needs – our Information Resource Specialist will ask you a few questions to enable us to suggest next steps and determine your needs.
  • Attend group sessions – we have a lineup of Webinars and Workshops you can attend.
  • Referrals to other community agencies – we can refer you to a community partner that can assist you to overcome a barrier if it is not employment or career related.
  • Access Computers – our computers are available to you from 8:30 – 4:30.
  • Use resume and cover letter building software – we have programs installed on our computers that will assist you in developing your resume and cover letters.​
  • View/borrow resource materials & books – there are books and materials available for you to borrow or view in either our Bridgewater or Liverpool locations.
  • Free printing, photocopying & faxing for job search purposes – there is a printer available to print your job search and career exploration documents.
  • Phone available for local calls – we can provide access to a phone (in a private location) within our centres.
  • Basic office supplies – access to paper, stapler, pens & pencils, etc.
  • Access to Wi-fi – you can use our public wi-fi access points.
  • Work with one of our staff – we can book you with one of our staff that will assist you in reaching your career or job-related goal(s).​​

​Assisted Services (No cost)

Accessing our assisted services requires a registration with us, there is no charge as we are funded by Employment Nova Scotia.  
  • Work one to one with staff – referral to set up a scheduled meeting either virtually or in-person to learn of your circumstances.
  • Determine individual needs – staff will assess your needs during a scheduled meeting.
  • Build a plan – this is a set of steps and strategies to move you closer to your goal(s).
  • Look at options – you will learn of all your options while building a plan.
  • Referral to webinars, workshops, special programs – it may be recommended you attend sessions to enhance your employability quickly.
  • Identify barriers & roadblocks – together with one of our staff, you will learn of all that is preventing you from reaching your goal(s), you will identify and build on your strengths to navigate your path to meaningful employment.
  • Access pre-employment training and skills – we offer pre-employment skills and as a registered client you will be notified when they are being offered.   We offer safety training and employability skills.
  • Resume & cover letter critique & tips – building a resume and cover letter that portrays you in the best possible light is part of building a plan with us, also is highlights your skills and experiences to help you stand out from other job applicants.​
  • Referrals for functional, educational, and technology assessments – these referrals will be to individuals outside of our organization if needed in order to build your plan.
  • Referrals to adult learning programs and services – we have the Lunenburg County Adult Learning Program onsite and referrals to work with them to enhance your education level can be made.
  • Access Job Coaching services – these services are for individuals who have high barriers, may have a disability, and meet eligibility criteria. Participants can receive a referral from a Case Manager to our Employment Support Practitioner to assist them in reaching their maximum level of employment capacity. The ESP will provide one-to-one assistance with the following Work Experience activities:
  • ​Transition to employment
  • Job readiness
  • Orientation to a workplace
  • Assisting participants needs on the job
  • Assistance in completing specific duties on the job​

All of our public computers have WinWay Resume Deluxe 14 installed, this program is a flexible resume and cover letter writing software with all the tools you need to create a compelling resume and cover letter. MS Word 2019 is installed on all of our computers and you can choose to use this software to build your resume and cover letters.  Land your dream job with free resume and cover letter templates from Office. Make your resume or curriculum vitae (CV) stand out with one of their free, eye-catching templates and matching cover letters in that showcase your skills and work history.

To access the resume and cover letter templates in Word:
  • Open Microsoft Word
  • Go to File > New.
  • Type ‘resume’  or ‘cover letters’ into the search box.
  • Click a resume/cover letter template that you want to use.
  • Click Create to open the resume/cover letter template in MS Word.​
