Information Resource Specialist “Summer Internship” Summer Student Employment Opportunities 37.5 hours/week - Full time/term positions Centre hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Primary Work Locations: Bridgewater Centre – 1 position and Liverpool Centre – 1 position These Summer Internship positions will provide meaningful work experience for students with goals of becoming employed in the field of Career Development Services. Students must be graduating from high school and entering post secondary in the fall of 2022, or be a student returning to post secondary education. Interns may be of any age, as long as you are a student enrolled in post-secondary education in the fall of 2022. This opportunity may be of particular interest to students enrolled in human services, education, social work, social sciences or humanities programs, but is not limited to these areas of study. Position Summary: Information Resource Specialists (IRS) address client’s information needs. They help clients find the most relevant resources and guide them in developing the skills to use these resources. They understand research methods for gathering information and utilize a variety of mediums to share information based on the users’ needs. IRS staff have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of community resources, government programs and work search strategies and can assess clients’ information needs and refer to the appropriate resources and supports in a timely manner.
